How it works

  1. Search your inbox and spam for "OpenAI" and "export".
  2. Confirm the address under ChatGPT Settings › Account.
  3. Save urgent chats now: copy each share link and paste it above.

How long it takes

It depends on the size of your history. A few hundred chats often arrive within minutes. Years of daily use can take much longer. There's no progress indicator, so the only signal is the email.

The address it goes to

The export goes to your ChatGPT account's email. If you signed up with Sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, it goes to the relay address, which forwards to your real inbox and can be delayed or filtered.

Can I request it again?

Yes, but wait a while first. A second request doesn't cancel the first and doesn't make it faster.
