How it works

  1. Export your data from Claude.
  2. Open the ZIP above and select chats.
  3. Export as Markdown.

Into Obsidian

Unzip the export into a folder inside your vault, for example Claude/. Every file starts with frontmatter, so you can list chats by date with Dataview, or filter by source: claude in search. Headings are ## You and ## Claude, so Obsidian's outline shows every turn.

Search both histories at once

Open your Claude export and your ChatGPT export one after the other and export both as Markdown into the same folder. Full-text search in any editor then covers every answer you've had from either assistant.

Same format as ChatGPT exports

If you use both assistants, export both histories into one vault. The source field in each file's frontmatter tells you which assistant it came from.

Are Claude's artifacts included?

Artifact text that appears in the conversation is included. Separate artifact files aren't part of the readable export.
