How it works

  1. Open the chat, click Share at the top right, then Copy link.
  2. Paste the link into the box above with Ctrl+V.
  3. Tap Download Word. The file goes to your Downloads folder. Press Ctrl+J to see it in the browser's download list.

Where to find it on Windows

Your Word document is saved to This PC › Downloads. Open it in Microsoft Word or WordPad. In Word, open the Navigation pane (View › Navigation Pane) to jump between turns, because every turn is a real heading.

What's in the Word document

Every turn is a real Word heading, lists are real Word lists, tables stay tables, and code sits in a shaded monospace block. Untick Include my messages to keep only the answers, or tick Timestamps to record when each message was sent.

If something goes wrong on Windows

  • Word opens the file in Protected View. Word does that for every downloaded file. Click Enable Editing at the top.
  • The PDF has the page address and date in the margins. In the print window, open More settings and untick Headers and footers.
  • The browser shows a download warning. Choose Keep. The file was generated on your own computer from the chat text.

Good to know on Windows

Choose Save as PDF rather than Microsoft Print to PDF if you want the links in the chat to stay clickable.

Other formats

The same link also gives you PDF and Markdown on Windows, plus plain text and HTML under More.

Questions

Do I need to install anything on Windows?

No. Everything happens in Edge or Chrome. There's no app or extension to install.

Does it work for long chats?

Yes. The whole conversation is loaded before saving, so long chats come out complete.
