How to share a ChatGPT conversation

A share link lets anyone with it read the chat. It's also the key to exporting a chat here.

How it works

  1. Open the chat.
  2. On the web or desktop app, click Share at the top right. In the mobile app, tap the share icon at the top or the ⋯ menu.
  3. Choose Copy link. Paste it anywhere, or into the box above to download the chat.

What a shared link shows

The conversation up to the moment you created the link. Messages you add later don't appear unless you update the link. Your name is hidden unless you choose to show it. Uploaded images and files are not included.

Delete shared links

In ChatGPT, open Settings › Data controls › Shared links › Manage. Delete any link there, and it stops working for everyone. Deleting the chat also kills its link.

Can people find my shared chat on Google?

Only if you choose to make it discoverable, or post the link somewhere public. Treat a share link as public.

Can someone continue my shared chat?

They can start their own copy of it. Your original isn't changed.
