How it works

The email never arrives

  • Check spam, promotions and any filters. The sender is OpenAI.
  • Check which email your account uses. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft, the export goes to that account's address.
  • Wait. Small accounts take minutes; large ones can take hours, sometimes longer.
  • Request once. Repeated requests don't speed it up.
  • Some Business and Enterprise workspaces don't offer the export. Ask your admin.

Stuck in a verification loop

Export asks you to re-verify your identity. If it loops between passkey and codes, try requesting from the mobile app instead of the browser, or from a different browser with no extensions. Users report the app route working when the web one loops.

Download link expired

The link in the email expires after about a day. Request a new export and download it as soon as it arrives.

ZIP won't open or seems corrupted
