Move from Claude to ChatGPT
Export your Claude history, then give ChatGPT the chats that matter as Project files.
Or drag your ChatGPT or Claude export ZIP here. It's read on this device, nothing is uploaded.

How it works
- In Claude, open Settings › Privacy › Export data and download the ZIP from the email.
- Open it above. Carryover reads Claude exports too.
- Export the chats you need as Markdown or Word and add them to a ChatGPT Project.
Bring the context, not just the chats
ChatGPT Projects accept files, so upload the exported Markdown of the chats that matter to a Project and work inside it. For preferences, open ChatGPT's personalization settings and add the rules you used with Claude as custom instructions, or tell ChatGPT directly what to remember.
Keep a full archive
Export everything as Markdown and keep the folder somewhere you control. Even if you never open it again, it's a record of work you did with Claude that doesn't depend on any account staying open.
What carries over
Every message you and Claude wrote, in order, with dates. Attachments and artifacts aren't part of the readable export, so re-upload important files separately.
Questions
Can I keep using both?
Yes. Many people keep Claude for writing and coding and ChatGPT for other things. Exports let you move context in either direction.
